WHAT IS “HOSTING”?

To put it simply, if your website is your house, then hosting is the virtual plot of land on which we place it. First we build the site, then we upload it to your web host, where it “lives” online and is available 24 hours a day.

Some web designers offer you an artificially low start-up cost (which you pay once), and then charge an inflated monthly hosting cost (which you pay for as long as you have your site). Bottom line: you save a lot the first month, then pay WAY too much in the long run.

At Actor Fusion, we only charge you for site construction, and (reasonably priced) updates. We do not provide hosting, but will get you set up with a reliable provider that charges a fair price (generally around $7 per month or less).

If you’ve already set up hosting services, just let us know. Otherwise, we’ll get you hooked up with a solid provider.

IN ADDITION:

There is an annual charge to register/maintain your domain name. Generally about $10/year ($20/year if you want a “private” registration - highly recommended).

We also recommend setting up your registration fees for automatic payment so that you do not inadvertently lose your virtual “address”.
